Any guilt over finding ourselves in this brassy American chain restaurant were swiftly dealt with by two huge margaritas – they really knew how to make their cocktails here. Knew? Did I mention that it is now closed? Yes, before I had time to type this up, TGIs Gdansk has shut it’s door for the last time – the canoes, bicycles and Americana stripped from the walls and packed away to some other lucky tourist town.
So lets keep this brief – TGI Friday’s was one of the best eating experiences in Gdansk. Yes, the décor is hackneyed and the menus are mass produced – but the burgers were sublime and the Jack Daniels ribs pure heaven. The portion of onion rings served with the ribs had a perfect crunch and the chips were fresh and crispy.
The starters were less phenomenal, but still very tasty – mozzarella sticks, buffalo wings, stuffed potato skins are all worth a look, and only the huge portions should hold you back!
I won’t go on – but suffice to say that it shall be missed! A recent trip to the TGI’s in Belfast to recreate the experience was far inferior and grossly overpriced. So sorry, but if you didn’t go, you’ve missed your chance.
